Teak

8

Warm, durable solid-teak pieces that silver beautifully in the Cyprus sun.

Teak outdoor furniture in Cyprus suits villas and terraces where the furniture stays out and is meant to last: solid teak is dense, naturally oily and heavy enough to sit still in wind. This collection brings together teak furniture for dining and lounging: armchairs, a director chair, a bar stool, a lounge set and a long dining table.

Wooden garden furniture: pros and cons of teak

  • Pros: teak resists rot without paint, stays cool to the touch compared with metal, and weathers evenly to a silver-grey patina.
  • Cons: it costs more than resin or aluminium, it is heavier to move, and keeping the honey colour takes oiling once or twice a year. As it dries in summer, fine surface cracks can appear; they are cosmetic.

Pieces and sizes

  • The Bondi armchair (60 x 61 x 88 cm) and Chloe armchair (66 x 61 x 88 cm) pair a solid teak frame with a polyester grid seat that drains fast.
  • The lower Savion armchair is 76 cm high, a relaxed pick for a small veranda.
  • The Roma table is 280 x 100 cm, slatted teak on an X-shaped stainless steel base, for 10 people at a villa or a restaurant patio.
  • The Coachella sofa set mixes a teak frame with olefin rope seats: two armchairs, a 168 cm sofa and a 120 x 70 cm table.

Teak patio furniture and the Cyprus climate

Strong sun turns untreated teak grey within a season. If you prefer it golden, clean it and apply teak oil in spring. Wash with mild soapy water and a soft brush, never a pressure washer. Near the sea, rinse the stainless steel legs with fresh water. In winter, lift feet off standing water and use a breathable cover, not plastic sheeting that traps moisture.

Teak or a lighter material

Outdoor wood furniture feels warmer than the aluminium collection, while rope and rattan is lighter and softer. See teak vs aluminium and our cleaning guide, or browse dining tables.
