Three Paphos landscapes

The district packs very different settings into a short drive.

• Kato Paphos and the coast road. Apartments and hotels along Poseidonos Avenue and Tombs of the Kings Road, a few minutes from the harbour. Balconies face the sea and catch salt spray, so rust-free aluminium and resin are the safe choice.
• The hillside villages. Tala, Kamares, Tsada, Emba and Konia sit roughly 200 to 600 metres up, with villas built into slopes, infinity pools and long views to the sea. Afternoon sun from the west is intense, and evenings are cooler than on the coast.
• Peyia, Coral Bay and Chloraka. Holiday lets and permanent homes, many owned by British and northern European residents, with pools and gardens used ten months a year.

Villa terraces with a view

On a hillside villa the terrace is the living room. Shade against the western sun

Paphos terraces facing the sunset get the hardest light of the day between four and seven in summer. A wide umbrella covers that low angle better than a small parasol: the Aries Anod umbrella covers 300 x 400 cm on an aluminium frame. Pick the base from umbrella bases.
