Umbrellas and bases in Cyprus

This category covers garden and patio umbrellas for balconies, villa terraces, cafes and beach clubs in Cyprus, together with the bases that hold them: round, rectangular and square canopies, centre-pole and side-pole designs, and wheeled, weighted and custom concrete bases.

Pick the canopy size

• Balcony or small table: the Pamela is 200 cm across with a 35 mm stainless steel pole, fiberglass ribs and solution-dyed acrylic rated 7/8 for lightfastness.
• Table for four to six: a 3 m round canopy such as the Kalife in UV-resistant polyester.
• Long dining tables: rectangular 300 x 400 cm canopies, for example the Hamel with gas-piston lift.
• Large terraces and venues: the square Deneb reaches 495 x 495 cm on a black aluminium frame.

Centre pole or side pole

A side-pole (cantilever) umbrella keeps the pole out of the seating area. The Pitagora is 3 x 3 m with integrated LED light, the Aries rotates 360 degrees and tilts in six positions, and the Acrux is a 395 x 395 cm professional model made in Italy.

Sun, wind and fabric

Cyprus summers are long and bright, and afternoon sea breezes pick up on the coast. Air vents on models such as Aries and Pamela let gusts escape, but any garden umbrella should be closed when the wind rises and at night. The heavy-duty professional umbrella uses 400 g Dickson fabric on an 8.9 cm aluminium pole for venues that keep it open all day.

Choosing the base

The base must match the umbrella's size and pole. The Barry base weighs 35 kg, has wheels and fits 35, 38 or 48 mm poles; a 50 kg version suits bigger canopies.
