Styling Idea

Hotel Pool Sunbed Area

By Elena Georgiou· Outdoor Design Editor

Hotel and resort pool decks need sunloungers that are wiped down every day and moved constantly. Nardi's resin sunloungers such as the Alfa and Atlantico are stackable, so rows can be cleared for cleaning or stored at the end of the season.

Alfa or Atlantico?

The Alfa is mass-coloured polypropylene resin, measures 170 × 71 × 85 cm and weighs 13.5 kg. The Atlantico has a light tubular polypropylene frame, 171 × 70 × 99 cm and 16 kg, comes in more colours and takes an optional armrest. The table below compares both.

Both have a backrest with 4 positions, wheels and a breathable, interchangeable fabric, and both carry a 3-year manufacturer guarantee. The Alfa seat is 30 cm high; the Atlantico sits higher at 35 cm, which some guests find easier to get up from. For the full side-by-side, read Nardi Alfa vs Atlantico.

Planning a pool deck

  • Count loungers for peak occupancy, not the average day.
  • Leave walkways between rows for staff and guests.
  • Pick a colour you can re-order later, and ask us about availability before you commit.

Spacing and layout

Good hotel pool furniture planning starts with the real footprint of a lounger, not its folded size.

  • Allow the full extended length: the Alfa reaches 194.5 cm and the Atlantico 204 cm with the back lowered, so plan about 2.1 m of depth per lounger before the walkway.
  • Pairs with a small table between them work well: about 70-71 cm per lounger plus 40-50 cm for a side table such as the Nardi Pop (39.5 × 44 cm), which has a pull-out tray for drinks.
  • Keep 60-90 cm between pairs so guests reach their place without stepping over legs, and wider main walkways of about 1.2-1.5 m for staff, trolleys and towel service.
  • Keep the pool edge clear. Loungers should never block access to the water, the steps or the lifeguard position.
  • Plan the shade at the same time. Rows in full sun need umbrellas, and every umbrella needs room for its base between the pairs. See our professional umbrellas.

Daily operation

  • Moving: both models have wheels, so staff tilt and roll a lounger instead of dragging it, which spares the tiles and the lounger feet.
  • Cleaning: resin and fabric wipe down with water and mild soap. Rinse off chlorine, salt and sunscreen regularly, because sunscreen left in the sun stains light colours.
  • Repairs: the fabric is interchangeable, so a torn or worn sling can be replaced without changing the whole lounger.
  • Night and storms: stacked rows take less space and give strong wind nothing to catch.

Quantities and re-orders

Check your busiest days from last season rather than guessing. Not every guest is at the pool at the same time, but a shortage on a full August weekend is what guests remember. Order a few spare loungers and spare fabrics from the same batch, so a broken piece can be swapped the same day.

Colour matters too. Light shades stay cooler to the touch in strong sun than dark ones, while mid tones hide sunscreen marks and daily wear better. Whatever you choose, keep one colour per pool area, so the deck reads as one calm surface and spare loungers can go anywhere.

End of season

Wash and dry every lounger, stack the rows and keep them indoors or under covers through the winter rains. Our cleaning and winter care guide explains the steps, and furniture for homes by the sea covers salt air for beachfront hotels.
