Nardi Net vs Doga: Which Stackable Outdoor Chair?

Net and Doga are both stackable outdoor chairs in fiberglass resin, so the choice is mostly about look, weight and which matching pieces you need. Figures are from the product characteristics.

The chairs side by side

• Net Chair: 58.5 × 60.5 × 80 cm, 3.9 kg, 7 colours: an open, mesh-like back.
• Doga Chair: 56.5 × 60 × 83.5 cm, 5.1 kg, 8 colours: a slatted back.
• Net Bit Chair: 55 × 52 × 84 cm, 3.5 kg: a smaller, lighter Net.
• Doga Bistrot Chair: 55 × 53 × 82.5 cm, 4.1 kg: a compact Doga for small tables.

Net is the lighter of the two, which helps if staff move and stack chairs every day. Doga is a little heavier and taller in the back.

Seat, back and comfort

Both main chairs have the seat at 46.5 cm, which suits a standard 75 cm dining or bistro table. The Net seat is pierced with radial square perforations, so rain drains straight through, the seat dries fast after a wipe-down and air passes under you on a hot afternoon. The Doga, designed by Raffaello Galiotto, is built from parallel slats that give it a more traditional garden-chair look. The Doga Chair has armrests; the Doga Bistrot is the armless version. For long lunches, add a seat pad: the Net chair cushion is a thin 3.5 cm pad, and the Doga has its own chair cushion.

Relax chairs and stools

• Net Relax: 71 × 67 × 86.5 cm, 4.9 kg. Doga Relax: 75 × 70.5 × 77 cm, 6 kg.
• Bar stools: Net Stool 101.5 cm high, Doga Stool 100 cm high; Net also comes as a Mini at 90 cm.
• Cushions are sold separately for both ranges.

Matching tables

Both ranges include low tables for a lounge corner. The Net Table is 100 × 60 cm and 40 cm high, a coffee table for a pair of Net Relax chairs. The Doga side table is a one-piece moulding, 49.5 × 49.5 cm and 39.5 cm high, with the same slatted top as the chairs. For dining height, pair either chair with a 75 cm table from bistro tables.

Bar counters and stool height

The Net Stool seat is at 76 cm and the Doga Stool seat at 75 cm, which works with a bar counter of about 100-110 cm. The Net Stool Mini has its seat at 65 cm for kitchen islands and lower counters of about 90-95 cm. As a rule, leave 25-30 cm between the seat and the counter top, and about 60 cm of counter length per stool.

What they share

• UV-treated fibreglass resin, 100% recyclable.
• Stackable, with non-slip feet.
• A 3-year manufacturer guarantee.
• Care is water and mild soap, with no oiling or painting. Near the sea, rinse off salt now and then.

Common mistakes

• Using relax chairs for dining. Their seats are at 41.5 cm, too low for a 75 cm table.
• Mixing both ranges at the same table. Keep one range per zone, for example Doga for dining and Net stools at the bar.
• Forgetting the cushions. They are sold separately and should come inside at night, so plan where they will be stored.

Which one?

• Busy cafe terrace stacked every night: Net or Net Bit for lower weight.
• A slightly more classic look and more colour choice: Doga.
• Small bistro tables or balconies: Net Bit or Doga Bistrot.
